School Adventures:The KBC aims to compliment students’ classroom experience by engaging, inspiring, and awing students, utilizing raptors to help bridge the disconnect between people and the land that gives us life. To accomplish this goal, we combine an array of teaching aids, experience, plus live birds and animals in a 30-45 minute wildlife conservation program. At this time school visits are available from September - November and January - February. KBC Responsibilities:The KBC will provide a 30 - 45 minute wildlife conservation presentation featuring live birds of prey. A minimum of three species will visit your school. Species can include but are not limited to Red-tailed Hawk, European Barn Owl, Saker/Lanner Falcon, Gyr/Peregrine Falcon, Eurasian Eagle Owl, Bald Eagle, and Golden Eagle. Educational aids will be used to explain and demonstrate such concepts as flight mechanics, taxonomy and distribution, anatomy, behavior, metering environmental health, ecosystems, food webs, biodiversity, biomagnification, indicator species, and having fun without the aid of popular electronic devices. There will be a question and answer session at the conclusion of the formal presentation. Handouts, brochures, and fact sheets will be made available to teachers and students upon request. View our 4th Grade Teacher’s Course of Study. Programs are correlated to The Alabama Course of Study for Science. School Responsibilities:Fill out our contact form. The KBC requests a minimum of three student volunteers to assist with unloading and departing and the use of one 3x8 table at the location of the program. We ask that your class, grade, or school actively assist us in seeking sponsors to make these unique opportunities a reality at your school. We believe that conservation education should be available to all schools. Conserving and appreciating our natural heritage is important and we can’t be effective if we only visit schools that can afford it. Often local businesses and professionals are willing to assist schools with these kinds of opportunities. We encourage such sponsors to actively participate in the shows while we are present at the school. Representatives are encouraged to introduce the show and remain while we conduct the show. We also encourage you to invite any media outlets to publicize our efforts and our/your sponsors. All donations to the KBC are tax deductible. |

Hardship & Special Needs Groups:Our facilities and services are available on a limited basis to qualified hardship or special needs individuals and groups. We address these requests case-by-case as time and circumstances allow. Occasionally we are fortunate enough to wave most or all of the expense such an opportunity would incur. Of course locating a sponsor is another way to help bring joy and opportunity to those in need. Contact us with your request. |
